Gold bullion held by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) was valued at Dh39.20 billion at the end of August 2026, an increase of 29.2% from Dh30.33 billion a year earlier, according to preliminary data released by the central bank.
The CBUAE’s gold holdings rose steadily during the closing months of 2025, reaching Dh37.90 billion in December from Dh30.33 billion in August.
Their value subsequently increased to Dh43.05 billion in January 2026 and peaked at Dh46.44 billion in February.
Gold holdings were valued at Dh40 billion in March and remained close to that level in April and May. Their value then declined to Dh35.42 billion in June before recovering to Dh35.65 billion in July and Dh39.20 billion in August.
The figures show the balance-sheet value of the CBUAE’s gold bullion in dirhams. The data does not disclose the quantity held or indicate how much of the annual increase resulted from changes in gold prices or purchases.
