Samsung Electronics has launched its most ambitious foldable device to date — the Galaxy Z TriFold — in the UAE, where the limited-edition smartphone sold out within minutes of going on sale, underscoring strong demand for premium, cutting-edge devices in the market.
Priced at Dh11,999, the Galaxy Z TriFold is offered in a 512GB storage configuration paired with 16GB of RAM, placing it firmly at the top end of Samsung’s smartphone portfolio.
Samsung’s UAE website does not indicate when fresh stock will be available and is currently not accepting orders. However, it allows interested customers to register their details to receive alerts once the device is back in stock.
The UAE was selected as one of only five countries globally to receive the device at launch, reflecting what Samsung described as the country’s status as a hub for early technology adoption and high-end innovation.
“UAE’s early access reinforces the market’s position as a hub for early technology adoption and premium innovation,” Samsung said in a statement following the sell-out.
The Galaxy Z TriFold introduces a new tri-fold form factor, unfolding from a pocketable smartphone into a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, allowing the device to function as a phone, tablet and productivity workstation in one. Samsung said the design targets users seeking a larger, immersive screen for work and entertainment without sacrificing portability.
The three-panel model is nearly 25% larger than Samsung’s latest foldable Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Under the hood, the device is powered by Snapdragon® 8 Elite for Galaxy, Samsung’s latest flagship processor optimised for on-device artificial intelligence. It features a 200-megapixel camera system, Samsung’s largest battery ever fitted to a foldable device, and a newly engineered hinge housed in a reinforced Armour Aluminium frame with a titanium hinge structure, designed to meet the durability demands of a multi-fold device.
Samsung has also optimised Galaxy AI for the expansive display, enabling advanced multitasking through three-app multi-window layouts, standalone Samsung DeX, and creative tools such as Photo Assist, Generative Edit, Sketch to Image and Gemini Live. These features allow users to move seamlessly between productivity and creative workflows on the larger screen.
The device was first showcased to UAE consumers earlier this month at a special event at Dubai Mall, coinciding with the country’s National Day celebrations, adding symbolic significance to the local launch.
Foldable phones are expected to account for less than 2% of the total smartphone market this year and remain below 3% by 2027, according to Counterpoint Research.
