ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Carsten Nørland has been appointed as the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Abu Dhabi Airports.
In a LinkedIn post, Abu Dhabi Airports said, “Carsten brings a global track record of commercial transformation, having led high-impact growth and customer excellence initiatives across infrastructure, transportation, and FMCG sectors.”
As the former CEO of Scandlines, he delivered a successful business turnaround, achieving record financial performance and operational scale, the statement noted.
“Prior leadership roles at Copenhagen Airport and Mars Inc. further reinforce his strength in building dynamic, customer-led organisations,” it added.
“With a strong commercial mindset and a passion for results, Carsten joins at a pivotal time in our growth journey. We look forward to what is ahead as we continue shaping the future of airport experiences,” Abu Dhabi Airports said.
Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, welcomed the appointment, “We are thrilled to welcome Carsten Nørland to the Abu Dhabi Airports leadership team. His exceptional track record in transforming commercial operations and delivering sustainable growth aligns with our strategic goals as we continue to elevate our passenger experience and strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a global aviation hub.”
Nørland brings extensive international experience in aviation, infrastructure, and consumer sectors. At Scandlines, he oversaw record freight and leisure volumes alongside a strategic repositioning. He has also held senior roles at Copenhagen Airport, Royal Unibrew, and Mars Inc.
His appointment comes at a time of strong momentum for Abu Dhabi Airports, following the opening of the new terminal at Zayed International Airport. The company said his leadership will focus on accelerating commercial initiatives that enhance passenger value, expand partnerships, and unlock new revenue streams to support the emirate’s aviation and tourism growth.
