Travel agencies in the UAE are witnessing a sharp increase in reservations, with several residents now finalising their overseas getaways for the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holidays.

Europe and Türkiye are among the preferred destinations, according to travel agents. Many are also heading to nearby destinations, such as the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and exotic spots away from the crowds.

Those travelling with their families are mainly looking for places that are packed with leisure activities for all ages, said Islam, an employee at a travel agency.

"Many prefer to travel to Europe, such as Austria, or Seychelles or even Hawaii, where they can enjoy family-friendly environments and entertainment," he said.

Türkiye and Malaysia are the go-to destinations for families, owing to the mix of stunning natural landscapes and rich culture in these two countries.

Among other holidaymakers, however, there has been an increasing appetite for trips to new and unconventional destinations, said Mohammed Maroof, another travel agent.

"We've noticed that destinations like Eastern Europe and Türkiye have become more attractive this year, but some prefer to spend Eid in quieter places like the Maldives or Switzerland," Maloof said.

"Trips to these destinations are seeing a higher demand because they offer comfort and privacy during the holidays," he added.
