ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) Group has entered into a strategic agreement with digital-asset custody technology provider DFNS to develop digital-asset wallet and tokenisation capabilities for assets recorded on blockchain networks.
Under the agreement, ADX will use DFNS’s wallet infrastructure as it builds the market capabilities needed to support the issuance, listing and trading of digital assets in the UAE and other markets, the exchange said in a statement.
The partnership will position ADX among the first financial-market infrastructure providers in the region to develop integrated digital-asset wallet and tokenisation capabilities, the statement added.
A digital-asset wallet provides the infrastructure required to hold and manage assets recorded on blockchain networks. Tokenisation involves creating a digital representation of an asset that can be issued, transferred or traded using such networks.
The agreement forms part of ADX’s digital-assets strategy and builds on its initiatives involving digitally native bonds and tokenised equities.
“Tokenisation is becoming an increasingly significant force in the evolution of global capital markets. It influences how capital is raised, invested and transferred,” said Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Group Chief Executive Officer of the ADX Group.
He said the partnership would help ADX build institution-grade infrastructure that could turn tokenisation into a scalable market capability.
“By integrating secure digital-asset wallet and tokenisation technology into our ecosystem, ADX aims to establish a robust foundation for a broader range of on-chain products and services,” Al Nuaimi said.
He added that the initiative would advance ADX’s strategy of positioning Abu Dhabi as a globally connected centre for the next generation of capital markets, supported by governance, operational resilience and investor confidence.
Founded in 2020, DFNS provides wallet infrastructure for institutional financial services, allowing banks, financial-technology companies and other businesses to conduct transactions and manage assets on blockchain networks.
Clarisse Hagège, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of DFNS, said secure wallet infrastructure was becoming an important part of market integrity as financial institutions increasingly explored digital assets and blockchain-based financial products.
“Through this collaboration, DFNS and ADX are laying the technological foundations for a new generation of regulated digital-asset services,” she said.
DFNS provides infrastructure covering wallets, key management, transaction processing, treasury management, tokenisation, governance, compliance and workflow management. Its platform connects to more than 100 blockchain networks and third-party services and is used by more than 500 financial-technology companies and institutions, according to the statement.
Headquartered in Paris, DFNS has offices in New York, Geneva, Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Sao Paulo.
