The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has updated the emirate’s regulatory system for holiday homes, “to offer a more streamlined experience for owners, operators and sector partners”.
The changes reduce approval times, simplify licensing procedures and provide users with a more modern and flexible digital platform, DCT Abu Dhabi said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the platform is also intended to improve regulatory compliance and revenue management for holiday homes, while strengthening integration with government entities.
The updated system provides tools for monitoring, inspections and compliance tracking. DCT Abu Dhabi said these tools would reinforce quality and safety standards and help operators meet regulatory requirements while maintaining operational standards.
Hamad Mohammed Alsudain, Acting Executive Director of Support Services at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the holiday-home sector was continuing to grow, supported by greater transparency, improved efficiency and a more user-friendly operating environment.
“The current improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to digital transformation and honour DCT Abu Dhabi’s commitment under Tourism Strategy 2030 to further enhance the holiday-home segment to diversify accommodation options,” Alsudain said.
DCT Abu Dhabi said the system was designed to comply with required data-protection policies, with safeguards for managing and storing sensitive information.
The latest changes follow improvements made to the Holiday Home System in 2024.
During that year, DCT Abu Dhabi worked with government entities to integrate the licensing platform with the Department of Municipalities and Transport and the self-inspection system.
Those integrations reduced the time required to issue a holiday-home permit to less than six hours, according to the statement.
