LYON (ALETIHAD)
The Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) General Headquarters, represented by its Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team, participated in the 51st INTERPOL Disaster Victim Identification Working Group Meeting and the accompanying 35th International DVI Conference.
The event was held at INTERPOL headquarters in Lyon, France, and brought together leading experts, specialists, security representatives, and international organisations from around the world.
Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management Department and Head of the Disaster Victim Identification Team, Brigadier Ahmed Nasser Al Kindi, emphasised that the participation reflects ADP's commitment to strengthening international security cooperation and enhancing national preparedness for major incidents and disasters in line with global best practices and standards.
He noted that this supports advanced security and emergency response systems while improving the ability of security institutions to effectively manage complex scenarios and cross-border incidents.
He explained that ADP continues to develop its specialised capabilities in DVI through ongoing training, international knowledge exchange, and the adoption of INTERPOL-approved standards and best practices.
These efforts contribute to faster response times, greater procedural accuracy, and stronger humanitarian security, crisis management, and disaster response systems.
Head of the Disaster Victim Identification Section at Abu Dhabi Police and a member of the INTERPOL Working Group, Lieutenant Colonel Adel Mohammed Al Ali, took part in the technical and strategic meetings.
Discussions focused on the latest developments in forensic identification, mass casualty incident management, and modern technologies related to fingerprint analysis, DNA, and forensic odontology, as well as challenges associated with complex incidents and multi-agency response mechanisms.
The conference also reviewed a number of international experiences and lessons learned from major global incidents and disasters.
Topics included best practices for managing large-scale incident scenes, accelerating identification processes, and improving systems for sharing criminal data and information.
These measures help enhance international response efficiency and strengthen coordination among police agencies, forensic experts, and relevant partners.
This participation is part of ADP's ongoing efforts to enhance proactive preparedness, develop specialised capabilities in disaster management and humanitarian security, and reinforce the United Arab Emirates' position as an active international partner in global security and policing systems.
These efforts contribute to community safety and promote international cooperation in addressing humanitarian and security challenges.
