With their advanced skills in engineering, innovation, aerospace production, and new-age technology, Emirati women are taking on a growing role in the UAE’s industrial sector, experts said.
Walking through the recently concluded Make it in the Emirates in Abu Dhabi, business development engineer Dana Alnaqbi noted the strong presence of women making their mark across the industry.
An increasing number of Emirati women in engineering continues to boost the country’s industrial capacity, said Alnaqbi of EPI, an entity of EDGE Group and a cornerstone of precision engineering in the UAE’s aerospace, oil and gas, and defence industries.
"Empowering Emirati women in engineering is driving innovation, strengthening national capabilities, which helps shape the future of the UAE,” she told Aletihad.
She added that EPI is at an important stage in its development, with women playing a consistent role in its growth and future direction.
"EPI will commemorate a platinum anniversary as a commercial aerospace Tier 1 supplier in 2027," Alnaqbi said. "By bolting on automated technologies to support turbo machinery propulsion systems, this year will mark an important milestone in our 20-year manufacturing journey that has constantly seen the participation of women.”
Basmah Alzeyoudi, innovation manager at EDGE, highlighted the group’s commitment to increasing female participation in leadership, engineering, and technology roles.
She said the company provides opportunities and support to help women contribute effectively to innovation and performance excellence.
Innovation, she added, is central to EDGE’s culture and operations. “Through innovation, EDGE strengthens its position as a world-leading organisation by creating cutting-edge technology solutions and improving its manufacturing and integration capabilities.”
Manufacturing engineer Jawahera Tamimi added that women are increasingly at the forefront of designing, building, and advancing the technologies shaping the future at EDGE Group.
"Their influence extends beyond participation; they drive progress in every system, process, and innovation," she said.
