As part of its research tour in London, a TRENDS delegation held a discussion session with senior officials from The Economist newspaper.

The session focused on the prospects of the global economy and its future developments in light of the technological and artificial intelligence revolution.

It also explored opportunities for research and media collaboration to produce balanced and innovative research content with a global perspective.

The TRENDS delegation, led by the CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, and accompanied by a team of sector heads and researchers, took a tour of The Economist headquarters.

They were introduced to the newspaper’s operations and editorial departments.

They also engaged in discussions with several journalists and editors, including Patrick Foulis, the foreign editor, and Jonathan Rosenthal, the international editor, addressing various issues, as well as opportunities for research and media collaboration.

During the discussion, Dr. Al-Ali emphasised the importance of cooperation between research centres and prestigious media institutions like The Economist.

He noted that the newspaper is a leading global media platform that helps shape public opinion through its accurate and balanced analyses.

He further stated that such collaborations could contribute to producing advanced research and academic content that reflects a comprehensive global vision on contemporary issues.

Dr. Al-Ali also expressed TRENDS' aspiration to build a strategic partnership with The Economist by conducting joint research that fosters cross-cultural understanding.

Foulis welcomed the TRENDS Research and Advisory delegation, emphasising that collaborating with distinguished research centres enhances the quality of analysis and future insights presented to readers.

He pointed out that the economic, political, and technological issues discussed during the session are at the core of the newspaper’s interests.

He also expressed his enthusiasm for developing a research partnership with TRENDS to provide deeper and more comprehensive content, particularly regarding the Middle East, which is playing an increasingly significant role in the global economy.

It is worth noting that The Economist is published weekly in print and daily on digital platforms, offering articles and analyses on topics including economics, business, geopolitics, technology, and culture.

The newspaper’s headquarters is in London, and it is owned by The Economist Group, with major editorial offices in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
