ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) was awarded for the implementation of FIDIC contracting standards at the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) Contract Users Awards 2024.

The Award recognises ADPIC as the best project owner of the year for displaying an exemplary approach to the use of FIDIC contracts, demonstrating best practices, as well as engaging with the supply chain in a fair and principled manner. It was presented in recognition of ADPIC’s updated General Conditions Contract (ADGCC) for capital projects, which introduced significant advancements in procurement standards, dispute resolution and project delivery efficiency.

The revised ADGCC, now mandated for government entities in Abu Dhabi, reflects the Centre’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in infrastructure delivery across the emirate. The enhanced ADGCC features an elevated role for engineers and the mandatory integration of Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Boards, ensuring objective dispute resolution and fairness for all contracting parties.

His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), said: “This recognition highlights ADPIC’s leadership in setting new benchmarks for the construction industry. Through a commitment to innovation and integrity, ADPIC is driving progress in Abu Dhabi and setting an inspiring example for the entire region to follow.”

Maysarah Mahmoud Eid, Acting Director General of ADPIC, said: "We are honoured to receive this recognition, which reflects ADPIC’s dedication to advancing the infrastructure and construction sector in Abu Dhabi. It’s a testament to our efforts to set new benchmarks for procurement standards and dispute resolution, while ensuring fairness, efficiency, and innovation in capital project delivery.”

The award comes as the UAE advances to fifth place in the Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development (QI4SD) Index, marking a significant leap in global rankings. This progress underscores the nation's commitment to building a robust and sustainable infrastructure for the future.
