SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)
NMDC Group, a global leader in engineering, procurement, construction, and marine dredging based in Abu Dhabi, unveiled its new business unit, NMDC LTS (Logistics & Technical Services) during the inaugural Abu Dhabi Business Week.
The move marks a key step in the Group's expansion and diversification strategy, providing innovative, cost-effective solutions through strategic partnerships and AI-driven optimisation.
The new division will expand NMDC Group's portfolio by adding logistics and technical services to its existing marine, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), engineering, and construction operations, and enable the company to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions across a wider range of industries.
Also, it will manage key resources such as marine support craft and equipment, further supporting NMDC's growth and diversification alongside its other units: Dredging & Marine, Energy, Engineering, as well as Construction.
Eng. Yasser Zaghloul, CEO of NMDC Group, said that NMDC Group is expanding its services beyond dredging and marine and energy EPC projects.
He noted that NMDC LTS will provide new partners with access to a trusted platform, allowing them to benefit from NMDC Group's efficiency, innovation, and service-focused delivery.
Speaking to Aletihad on the sidelines of the event, Peter Marvin, Chief Technical & Resources Officer of NMDC LTS, discussed the vision behind the launch of the new company and how it aligns with NMDC's core objectives.
"NMDC Group's strategies and objectives are centred around diversification and growth. The market has seen our record-breaking growth figures over the last few years, which is a testament that we are heading in the right direction and will continue on this path. For NMDC Group, this marks a significant milestone in terms of diversification. We are taking a skill set that has existed within NMDC, and now we are expanding to serve other industries," Marvin said.
He noted that NMDC Group operates close to 350 vessels, meeting significant regional demand for vessels and services in the GCC.
Marvin also highlighted the company's expansion plans to improve collaboration, stating that it is already working with major marine owners in Abu Dhabi.
"By opening up the services side, we can serve multiple parties with the same equipment, which will reduce the overall demand for vessels," he said.
He stressed the significance of collaboration, stating that Abu Dhabi's vessel management capabilities can provide external vessel owners with the opportunity to bring their vessels to the city.
"In addition, we have a backlog worth Dh70 billion, which offers long-term investment opportunities to the local market," he added.
According to Marvin, NMDC Group's history of collaboration sets the stage for future success in the marine logistics community, as they are already collaborating with ADNOC LNS.
