KHALED AL KHAWALDEH (ABU DHABI)
Abu Dhabi Business Week will launch its inaugural event on Wednesday bringing together an impressive roster of global tech and business leaders.
Organised by the Department of Economic Development and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event aims to position Abu Dhabi as a premier destination for innovation and entrepreneurship.
This year's standout features will be the participation of iconic figures such as Richard Quest, the renowned CNN Business Editor and anchor of "Quest Means Business." His insights into global economic trends are highly anticipated and are expected to set the tone for the discussions throughout the week. Additionally, Matthias Schindler, Vice President of Strategy at SAP, will share his expertise on digital transformation and strategic planning in the tech industry.
"This week promises to deliver extensive insights from some of the world's biggest business leaders and influential figures that will help drive forward businesses across the emirate," Shamis Ali Al Dhaheri, the Second Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), said.
"The event truly reflects Abu Dhabi's outstanding economic journey and immense growth opportunities."
The event will also include the Entrepreneurship Competition which will offer a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to present their innovative ideas to a panel of seasoned investors and industry experts. This competition is designed not just as a contest but as an incubator for new ventures, providing participants with mentorship opportunities and potential access to funding.
Workshops and panel discussions will run throughout the two days, covering a wide array of topics pertinent to today's business environment. Sessions on Artificial Intelligence in Business will explore how AI technologies are reshaping industries, led by specialists from leading tech firms. Discussions on Sustainable Economic Development will address how businesses can align profitability with environmental responsibility, a topic of growing importance in global economic forums.
Attendees can also look forward to sessions on global market expansion, where experts will discuss strategies for entering new markets and navigating the complexities of international trade. These sessions aim to equip business leaders with the knowledge to scale up their operations beyond local boundaries successfully.
Networking opportunities promise to be abundant, with scheduled events designed to facilitate meaningful connections among participants. The Business Expo Hall will feature exhibitions from both established companies and emerging startups, showcasing the latest products, services, and technological advancements.
Guests are being promised a well-rounded experience that goes beyond traditional business conferences. The event is set against the backdrop of Abu Dhabi's rich cultural heritage, and organisers have incorporated elements that celebrate this. Evening receptions will feature performances by local artists, offering attendees a taste of the region's cultural vibrancy while providing a relaxed atmosphere for informal networking.
The organisers have emphasised that the Business Week is more than a series of talks and workshops. It is a strategic initiative aimed at accelerating economic development and innovation in the region. By bringing together global thought leaders and local talent, the event seeks to create a dynamic environment where ideas can be exchanged freely, and collaborative efforts can take root.
"The week will strengthen Abu Dhabi's business sector by promoting public-private partnerships and collaboration, achieving our mission to enhance our knowledge-based and diversified economy," Al Dhaeri said.
