The Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) concluded a four-day trade mission to Mumbai, India, culminating in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry Ladies Organization (FICCI FLO).

This partnership marks a new phase of cross-border collaboration between Emirati and Indian women entrepreneurs.

During the mission, SBWC members engaged in high-level meetings and site visits, connecting with over 70 Indian companies.

The initiative aimed to strengthen ties with potential partners, leveraging India's entrepreneurship expertise and fostering collaboration in key sectors, including technology, fashion, food and beverages, and jewellery.

Led by Mariam Bin Al Sheikh, Director of SBWC, the delegation included SBWC Advisory Council Members Alya Taryam and Maitha Al Ansari, alongside other council members. Participants had the opportunity to showcase their businesses and explore potential partnerships with their Indian counterparts.

Mariam Bin Al Sheikh commented, "Our mission over the past four days has created pathways for growth and collaboration, uniting our strengths to drive innovation and create a lasting impact. Together, we can redefine the future of business and inspire future generations."

An MoU was signed by Mariam Bin Al Sheikh and Aarmeen Mogul Dordi, Chairperson of FICCI FLO Mumbai Chapter, in the presence of Consul General Abdulla Husein Al Marzooqi. The agreement aims to open new avenues for cooperation in vital sectors and enhance economic empowerment for women in both regions.

The mission's agenda included B2B meetings and site visits to local businesses, providing insights into operational practices and industry trends. SBWC members represented businesses from Sharjah’s fashion and jewellery sectors, including Harf w Nagsh Jewelry, Moza Jewelry, and Nooda La Moda.

A key event was the "Sharjah-India Women in Business Forum," where panel discussions addressed challenges facing female entrepreneurs and the importance of mentorship and supportive policies. The forum facilitated valuable networking and laid the groundwork for long-term partnerships.

With bilateral trade between the UAE and India exceeding $60 billion in recent years, the SBWC’s mission aligns with efforts to enhance economic cooperation while empowering women to expand their leadership roles in business.
