Hotel room revenues in Dubai increased by 10.5% in the first five months of 2024, reaching approximately Dh8.766 billion, up from Dh7.93 billion during the same period last year. This growth was driven by a rise in booked nights and an increase in the average room return, reflecting higher demand.

Data from the Department of Economy and Tourism showed that the number of hotel nights booked in Dubai reached 18.34 million from January to May, a 4% increase compared to the same period last year. The average room return increased to Dh478, while the average room price was Dh563.

Dubai hotels recorded a strong performance, with a 7% increase in the average return on hotel rooms in the first five months of 2024 compared to the same period last year. The city’s hotels continued to see improvements across various indicators, including returns on available rooms, average daily rate, booked nights, hotel capacity, and the number of hotel establishments.

The total accommodation capacity in Dubai reached approximately 150.2 thousand hotel rooms by the end of May, spread across 822 hotels and hotel apartment establishments. This is a 1% increase from the 148.7 thousand rooms within 812 establishments at the end of May 2023.

Visitor numbers also saw a significant rise, with 8.12 million international visitors arriving in Dubai in the first five months of 2024, up from 7.39 million in the same period last year, marking a 10% growth. In May alone, the emirate attracted more than 1.44 million visitors.

Western Europe was the leading source market, contributing 21% of visitors, followed by South Asia (17%), Russia, the CIS, and Eastern Europe (15%), and the GCC countries (13%). The Middle East and North Africa accounted for 12%, Northeast and Southeast Asia (9%), the Americas (7%), Africa (4%), and Australia (1%) of the total visitors.
