Abu Dhabi has emerged as a frontrunner in global AI investments, which are key to facilitating sustainable technologies and mitigating climate risks worldwide, said Yasar Jarrar, Managing Partner of the Posterity Institute and Secretary General for the Chief Sustainability Officers (CSO) Network.

His remarks were made on Monday during an interview with Aletihad on the side-lines of the Global Sustainability Forum, hosted by ADNOC in collaboration with the CSO Network and the New York Stock Exchange. The forum provided a critical platform for top executives and leading technology providers to discuss sustainable technologies and the transformative role of AI in tackling climate challenges.

Jarrar highlighted AI's potential as a "game changer", empowering industries across sectors like medicine, transport, and energy to optimise operations and significantly reduce global emissions.

Reflecting on the UAE's strategic role, Jarrar pointed out that Abu Dhabi has emerged as a formidable competitor in the global AI race, alongside China and the US. He underscored the UAE's commitment to substantial investments in AI, positioning the region as a "hub" for innovation and sustainability initiatives.

Jarrar further noted that the forum plays an integral role in fostering dialogue, sharing insights, and advocating for policy changes that support sustainable development. He emphasised collaboration as the cornerstone for progress, noting the CSO Network's role in uniting CSOs from diverse sectors to address sustainability challenges, drive AI adoption and shape policy agendas.
