At the World Governments Summit in Dubai, H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, spoke about the UAE’s utilisation of theories of cluster economies to generate a more efficient economy for the country.
“In the UAE, we have seven different emirates all with different economies, each needs to have its own focus.”
The concept of cluster economies includes creating geographic concentrations of interconnected companies and institutions in a particular field. H.E Al Marri described how the UAE had created multiple clusters in the fields of agriculture, technology and resource extraction to create a more efficient economy.
Cluster economies were identified by the panel at the “GCC Economic Development: Structural Shifts and Visionary Paths” talk as a favourable economic model for the future of the GCC.
