Air and rail passengers can soon travel smoothly between UAE cities with Etihad Airways and Etihad Rail announcing plans to link services on their platforms. The integrated project is expected to boost tourism and make the travel experience easier for passengers.
One of the areas of focus would be to boost connectivity between Zayed International Airport and the Mohamed Bin Zayed City Passenger Station through dedicated shuttle services. This will ensure smoother transfers between the airport and the railway network.
Bookings will soon be integrated on their platforms for air and rail services, and also for station-based passenger services.
A partnership agreement between the two sides was signed on Tuesday, and Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, Etihad Airways, said it would mean convenient journeys for travellers in the country.
“Through this partnership with Etihad Rail, we will explore new opportunities to link air travel with destinations across the UAE, supporting tourism growth, creating greater convenience for travellers and contributing to Abu Dhabi’s long-term economic development.”
An integrated national transport system would keep pace with the UAE's development and support its future ambitions, opined Azza AlSuwaidi, Chief Operating Officer, Etihad Rail.
