Mubadala Energy said it has delivered measurable progress across its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance, including reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and flaring intensity.

The company on Wednesday published its 2025 Sustainability Report, which showed a 30.9% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions across its operated assets and a 12.4% decline in average emissions intensity. Flared gas intensity across the operated portfolio fell 33.9%.

Mubadala Energy attributed the improvement in its environmental performance to continued efforts to improve operational performance and decarbonisation initiatives, as well as the divestment of the Ruby asset in Indonesia in August 2025.

Adnan Bu Fateem, Acting CEO of Mubadala Energy, said the global energy sector was entering a period in which rising demand was intersecting with geopolitical uncertainty, affordability, energy security and sustainability.

“Under the theme ‘Energizing the Next Chapter’, our 2025 Sustainability Report reflects how we are aligning responsible growth with continued ESG progress,” he said.

“In 2025, we reduced emissions intensity, maintained zero spills and zero fatalities since inception, strengthened ESG governance, and continued investing in our people and young talent,” Bu Fateem said.

He said the company also invested more than Dh2.3 million in community programmes during the year, building on initiatives that have reached more than one million people over the past decade.

On safety, Mubadala Energy said it maintained its record of zero fatalities and zero spills since its inception. The company also continued investment in employee development, delivering an average of 8.95 training days per employee during 2025.

Women accounted for 32% of the company's workforce, up from 28% in 2024, while female representation in middle management rose to 28% from 18%. The workforce comprised employees from 38 nationalities.

On governance, Mubadala Energy said it strengthened its ESG governance framework and continued evaluating its alignment with IFRS S1 and S2 sustainability disclosure standards. The company also reported no data breaches for the seventh consecutive year.

Mubadala Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, has operated and non-operated assets across 10 countries. Its portfolio is around 70% gas and its working-interest production in 2025 was approximately 385,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
