ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

RAKBANK has reported a profit after tax of Dh1.75 billion, representing a 25% year-on-year increase, for the first half of 2026.

The results included a Dh473 million gain from the sale of the bank’s merchant-acquiring business, according to a statement issued by the bank.

Total assets increased 14% year on year to Dh108.6 billion, supported by growth in customer lending, investment securities and deposits. Customer deposits rose 23% to Dh75.1 billion.

RAKBANK said its profitability was supported by a net interest margin of 3.9%, a current and savings account ratio of 64.3% and focused execution across its businesses.

Return on equity increased to 25.2% from 22.1% in the first half of 2025, while return on assets rose to 3.2% from 3.1%.

The bank said its balance-sheet growth was supported by stable and diversified funding as well as ample liquidity. Its eligible liquid asset ratio stood at 13%.

Asset quality improved during the period, with the impaired-loan ratio declining to 1.8% from 2.1% a year earlier. The Stage 3 coverage ratio stood at 85.9%, while the capital adequacy ratio was 19.3%.

The bank attributed its asset-quality performance to disciplined underwriting and a diversified lending portfolio. It said its capital adequacy remained well above regulatory requirements.

RAKBANK  said growth in customer lending, investment securities and deposits had sustained its balance-sheet momentum. Its diversified operations, recurring revenues, liquidity and capital position would support its ability to continue serving customers and providing credit, the statement added.

The bank said it maintained uninterrupted access to its services and credit during the first half and provided relief to customers where required. It described its financial position as providing a foundation for sustainable growth despite a challenging operating environment.
