AD Ports Group and Borouge have signed a partnership agreement to explore the establishment of an alternative international export hub on the UAE’s East Coast as part of efforts to strengthen export resilience and operational flexibility.
According to the companies, the proposed initiative would support Borouge’s long-term export strategy by strengthening export continuity and building greater resilience into its logistics network.
The collaboration will make use of AD Ports Group’s marine connectivity and port services at Fujairah Terminals and Eastern ports facilities in the UAE, while also assessing the development of dedicated polyolefins infrastructure on the East Coast.
The two sides will also study ways to reduce reliance on constrained maritime passages and improve flexibility in vessel scheduling and routing through engagement with shipping lines to enable new routes via Fujairah Terminals.
The companies said the efforts are aimed at supporting stable and reliable export flows through a diversified network of ports and logistics facilities.
Saif Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer, Ports Cluster - AD Ports Group, said: “We look forward to collaborating with Borouge to explore opportunities that leverage AD Ports Group’s integrated port and logistics capabilities to support essential industrial exports and strengthen regional and global trade connectivity in line with the vision of our wise leadership.”
Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi said the partnership would support Borouge’s continued growth and logistics capabilities.
“Together with AD Ports Group, we are building a more flexible and diversified network that enhances reliability, ensures continuity of supply, and reinforces our position as a trusted global supplier, supporting the UAE’s industrial strategy,” he said.
Borouge is currently the largest exporter through AD Ports Group. The companies said the collaboration builds on a partnership that began in 2001 and reflects their shared aim of strengthening supply chain resilience and reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global logistics and industrial hub.
