ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Aldar has partnered with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) providing extracurricular education activities by offering alternative venues across its portfolio.

Aldar said in a statement that the initiative aims to ensure the continuity of after-school programmes while distance learning is in place across Abu Dhabi schools, supporting student engagement, community wellbeing and SME resilience.

Under the partnership, Aldar is making available a range of venues, including community centres, shopping malls and hospitality assets, enabling providers to continue delivering sports, creative and youth development programmes.

The company said these locations offer accessible, high-footfall environments that support programme delivery and expand participation among students and families.

Many extracurricular providers rely on school campuses to conduct their activities, and with access to such facilities temporarily limited, the initiative helps maintain programme continuity, preserve relationships within communities and ensure the quality of offerings.

Salwa Al Maflahi, Executive Director of Sustainability and Community Outreach at Aldar, said: “At Aldar, we are committed to supporting the continuity of learning and enrichment opportunities for students, while also supporting the SMEs that play a vital role in delivering these programmes. In collaboration with ADEK, we are mobilising our asset base to respond to community needs, helping to ensure that communities remain connected, active, and supported while distance learning is in place. This initiative reflects our broader focus on creating long-term social value and building resilient, inclusive communities across Abu Dhabi.”

The programme includes participation from a number of established extracurricular providers across Abu Dhabi, offering a wide range of activities for students and families.
