ERM, the world’s largest specialist sustainability consultancy, has announced the establishment of a new office at ADGM, expanding its footprint in the Middle East and building on its long-standing presence in the UAE.
In a statement, ERM said the move will strengthen its ability to support clients across the UAE and the wider Gulf as they advance energy-transition and economic-diversification strategies.
ERM said it brings global insights alongside deep technical expertise to regional markets, supporting clients across high-growth sectors including energy, metals and mining, technology and manufacturing.
The consultancy works with companies to integrate sustainability considerations into business operations, transactions and investment decisions.
Peter Rawlings, Managing Partner for the Middle East at ERM, said the Abu Dhabi expansion builds on the firm’s long history in the country. “ERM has a 20-year history in the UAE, and we look forward to building on this presence through ADGM,” he said.
“Its position as a key financial hub makes it the ideal base for ERM, as businesses within ADGM’s ecosystem and the broader Gulf region seek our sustainability expertise in critical areas including project finance, M&A, and outbound sovereign investment.”
Rawlings added that joining ADGM’s business community would create additional opportunities for ERM to help organisations embed sustainability into decision-making processes.
ERM is majority owned by global investment firm KKR, which acquired a controlling stake in the consultancy in 2021.
Rami Bibi, Managing Director and Head of Europe for KKR Global Impact, said the expansion comes at a time when demand for sustainability expertise is increasing across the Gulf.
“With a global track record of supporting companies through complex sustainability and transition challenges, ERM is well positioned to help organisations across the region strengthen resilience, manage risk, and capture new opportunities,” he said.
Arvind Ramamurthy, Chief Market Development Officer at ADGM, said ERM’s decision to establish a presence in Abu Dhabi underlines the strength of the ecosystem.
“At a time when the UAE is accelerating its sustainability and energy-transition agenda, ERM’s global expertise and technical capabilities will be a valuable addition to our vibrant international business community,” he said, adding that the move supports ADGM’s focus on sustainable finance, responsible investment and long-term economic growth.
ERM describes sustainability as its core business.
