ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Planys Technologies, a Hub71 startup specialising in underwater robotics and advanced inspection solutions, has raised about $12 million in primary funding to support its next phase of global expansion, with a strong focus on the Middle East.
The funding round was led by investors Ashish Kacholia and Lashit Sanghvi, with participation from existing investors including Pratithi Investment, Samarthya Investment Advisors, 3i Partners, LetsVenture and a group of angel investors.
The company said the fresh capital will be used to scale its industrial inspection business across key Middle East markets, particularly in ports and terminals, refineries, petrochemical complexes, desalination plants and power infrastructure.
Planys provides in-service inspection solutions using hybrid remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), robotic crawlers and an AI-enabled 3D Inspection Twin, allowing asset owners to inspect critical marine and process infrastructure while operations remain active. The technology is aimed at improving safety, reducing shutdown time and lowering lifecycle costs.
Among its upcoming products is TankRover, an internationally certified explosion-proof ROV designed for in-service inspection of hydrocarbon storage tanks and similar assets used across the region’s process industries. The company also offers underwater concrete testing and advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) in low-visibility and challenging environments, including jetties, berths, quay walls, intake and outfall systems, and submerged process structures.
Planys said it has completed more than 25,000 hours of deployment across 500 sites in over 10 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman. Its client base includes energy, petrochemical and port operators such as ExxonMobil, Shell, Saudi Aramco and SABIC.
The company is expanding its regional presence from Hub71 in Abu Dhabi and plans to deepen partnerships across the GCC, including its collaboration with Applus Velosi in Qatar, to support further growth in the region.
Founded in 2015 in India, Planys Technologies develops autonomous underwater vehicles and remotely operated vehicles for industrial and security applications, combining robotics with data analytics and reporting tools for asset integrity management.
