At the forefront of the UAE's push for sovereign technological capabilities, Emirati researchers are driving innovation and shaping the country's position as a global leader in advanced technologies.
One such innovation is Sadeed, a fully Emirati-developed hardware and software platform showcased at the 2025 Dubai Airshow by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII).
According to Salama AlMheiri, a Senior Associated Researcher at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), Sadeed is capable of diagnosing assets, identifying abnormalities in their behaviour, and predicting their remaining useful life, making it especially valuable in sectors like aerospace, oil and gas and energy.
"It can predict when the asset is going to fail and what proper measures should be taken when this happens," AlMheiri told Aletihad.
This foresight enables industries to make smarter, faster decisions about their machinery and operations, helping them prevent failures before they occur, she said.
Sadeed began its journey as a software-only platform in the first quarter of 2023, going through iterative versions, before the latest version, which includes a hardware component, which was launched in 2025, AlMheiri said.
She noted that this new hardware was developed entirely by Emirati researchers at TII, and tested with a wide range of datasets, including bearing data.
"Looking ahead, we are aiming to make Sadeed even more compact and portable," she added.
