Wall Street stocks rose early Friday following muted US inflation data that was seen as keeping alive the prospect of Federal Reserve interest rate cuts.

The personal consumption expenditures price index climbed 2.7% last month, accelerating slightly from July's 2.6%.

About 15 minutes into trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.7% at 46,280.29.

The broad-based S&P 500 advanced 0.5% to 6,636.56, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index added 0.2% at 22,420.28.

US stocks have fallen for the last three days amid rising talk that the market is expensively valued after a series of records in recent weeks.

In other economic news, US President Donald Trump announced hefty new tariffs on Thursday, including on pharmaceuticals and heavy trucks.
