National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed) has connected City Tower 1, a 93-storey development by H&H on Sheikh Zayed Road, to its district cooling network in Dubai.

The building will receive 5,300 refrigeration tonnes (RT) of sustainable cooling from Tabreed’s Al Satwa plant.

Standing at 362.8 metres, City Tower 1 comprises 695 residential units, office floors, retail outlets, a gym, children’s play areas, pools, a mini soccer field, and padel courts.

Chief Executive Officer of Tabreed, Khalid Al Marzooqi, said the connection underlines the company’s role in supporting energy efficiency and urban development in the UAE.

“Connecting City Tower 1 to one of our pre-existing networks clearly demonstrates our commitment to Dubai’s continued progress,” he said.

“Our presence in the city is unmistakable, with Tabreed’s Downtown Dubai network supplying Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and many other landmark developments with sustainable cooling. Tabreed is a force for good in the UAE,” the CEO added.

Chief Executive Officer of H&H, Miltos Bosinis, said, “City Tower 1 is a landmark addition to the Sheikh Zayed Road skyline and a reflection of H&H’s ambition to redefine Dubai’s urban landscape. To ensure comfort and efficiency, H&H partnered with Tabreed to install a state-of-the-art cooling system.”

The connection follows a series of growth milestones for Tabreed in 2025, including the acquisition of PAL Cooling Holding in partnership with CVC DIF, adding more than 182,000 RT of capacity, and a 250,000 RT concession at Palm Jebel Ali with Dubai Holding Investments.

Tabreed currently owns and operates 94 plants across the GCC, including 76 in the UAE.
