ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Advanced Mobility Hub (AMH), a subsidiary of Multi Level Group, is advancing sustainable transportation in the emirate, by conducting the first self-driving test at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal in Port Zayed, part of AD Ports Group.

With the support of the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council, AMH is also launching in Abu Dhabi the first trial vertiport in the UAE.

This cooperation agreement represents an important step in the development of the operational environment for autonomous transport, supporting Abu Dhabi's plans to enhance the transportation sector with smart transportation, ground stations, and autonomous driving technology.

This in turn supports the emirate’s long-term goal of exporting the operation and manufacture of advanced technology sectors, including self-driving drones.

The initiative also aims to contribute to attracting the latest technologies and creating an integrated environment to support technological development. The platform will provide various services after obtaining approvals and operational procedures from the concerned authorities.

The project comes after the completion of all approvals and requirements from the relevant authorities and represents the cornerstone for the development of advanced mobility solutions through the operation and development of the necessary infrastructure.

The project aims to lead to opportunities for sustainable transportation using E-vtol and autonomous aircraft capable of vertical take-off and landing, with a capacity ranging from two to five individuals, as well as logistics services of heavy or light types.

CEO of Multi Level Group, Mohamed Salah, said, “This project is a key element to support smart and sustainable transportation system and ground stations, and this plan aims to enrich the experience of cruise passengers and contribute to enhancing tourism activities in the UAE, by providing air tours to see the tourist attractions in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. This in turn supports increasing the number of tourist nights and creating additional sustainable and non-polluting activities.”

CEO of Cruise Business at AD Ports Group, Noura Rashed Al Dhaheri, said, “We are always looking for new opportunities and creative ideas to increase our efficiency and excellence. We are keen to provide our customers with the most enjoyable experiences in an environmentally friendly manner as part of our endeavour to promote sustainability. With the presence of technology, which can draw new horizons for cruises, we are pleased to be one of the pioneers in the development of the cruise sector and its supporting services.”
