The sector’s remarkable accomplishments align with the UAE Centennial Plan 2071, which aims for the country to be the best in the world in various fields.
It also supports the UAE 2031 vision and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Strategy by fostering a competitive national economy based on knowledge, innovation, and future technological applications.
Significant investments in education and scientific research related to space sciences have propelled the UAE to the forefront of space exploration in the region.
The nation has developed and launched several satellites, including KhalifaSat, and embarked on ambitious scientific and exploratory projects such as the Asteroid Belt Exploration Project, the Astronaut Programme, the Lunar Station Project, and the development of radar satellites (Sarab) to support its satellite manufacturing and operations systems.
The UAE’s pioneering efforts in the space field are supported by a series of policies, legislation, and laws that reflect its commitment to sustainable and responsible development.
The National Space Strategy 2030, launched in 2019, outlines the UAE’s plans to enhance its space capabilities and long-term goals. Federal Decree Law No. (46) of 2023 regulates space activities, stimulates investment, and encourages private and academic sector participation.
It also supports the application of necessary security, safety, and environmental protection measures, promoting transparency and adherence to international treaties and agreements related to outer space.
