The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) is participating in the International Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Girls, as part of the national and global celebrations of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

This year’s campaign is held under the theme “Towards Beijing+30: Unite to End Violence Against Women and Girls,” commemorating the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

The 16-day campaign, running on the association’s social media platforms, aligns with the international campaign “Unite to End Violence Against Women,” focusing on global efforts to eradicate violence against women and girls.

The campaign starts on November 25 and continues until the global observance of Human Rights Day on December 10.

The campaign will feature the colour orange, symbolising a brighter future free from physical, psychological, digital, and other forms of violence against women, aligning with the international campaign's main slogans: "Orange the World" and "#NoExcuse."

On this occasion, the UAHR emphasised the importance of eliminating violence against women and girls worldwide, noting that such violence remains a barrier to achieving equality, justice, peace, and the fulfilment of human rights.

The campaign highlights key elements of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which called for addressing violence against women, particularly economic violence, and ensuring gender equality.

It also references UN reports revealing an increase in violence against women and girls during climate crises and pandemics, including COVID-19.

Additionally, the campaign underscores the UAE’s national efforts to combat violence against women and girls on a global scale, as well as regional initiatives such as the Arab Declaration to End All Forms of Violence Against Women and Girls, launched in Abu Dhabi.
