AMEINAH ALZEYOUDI (ABU DHABI)
Abu Dhabi is set to welcome 2025 with New Year's Eve celebrations featuring record-breaking fireworks displays, performances, cultural festivals, and activities for all ages.
Fireworks to Light Up the Night
Fireworks remain a cornerstone of Abu Dhabi's New Year's Eve festivities, with displays illuminating the night sky at several iconic locations. Yas Island, a hub of entertainment and leisure, will host its renowned fireworks show, best viewed from Yas Bay Waterfront, Yas Marina, Yas Beach, or the scenic Manar at Samaliyah Island.
The Abu Dhabi Corniche, with its expansive eight-kilometre stretch of waterfront, is another hotspot for fireworks enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy the spectacle from various vantage points, including the MOTN Festival, Lulu Island, and Corniche Beach.
At the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba, the fireworks are accompanied by a range of cultural and family-oriented events. The best views can be enjoyed from the Camping Village, Heritage Village, or Majlis area, allowing visitors to combine the awe-inspiring display with the festival's rich cultural offerings.
On Al Maryah Island, traditional fireworks are replaced by an innovative laser and light show, enhanced by a fleet of 500 drones performing stunning aerial formations. The show is part of the island's Winter Wonderland, which features live music, cultural performances, and interactive family activities.
In the western region, the Liwa International Festival offers a one-of-a-kind experience - New Year's Eve fireworks coupled with cultural activities and thrilling motorsports events - best seen from Liwa Village, Tal Moreeb, or the heart of the festival grounds.
A Multitude of Entertainment Options
Abu Dhabi's New Year's Eve celebrations extend far beyond fireworks. Al Maryah Island will feature thrilling performances, including jet ski and flyboard stunts that showcase the skills of talented riders. Pyrotechnic jackets will add a fiery flair to the waterfront display, ensuring a high-energy start to 2025.
The Sheikh Zayed Festival offers a comprehensive cultural experience, with traditional crafts, live performances, and themed areas like the Heritage Village. Visitors can explore the Camping Village or enjoy rides and attractions in the festival's dedicated family zones. At Liwa Village, the Wanasa Zone features carnival rides and a petting zoo, while the Night Oasis provides an immersive museum experience.
The festivities will also include performances from world-renowned artists. Andrea Bocelli will bring his legendary voice to Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, promising an unforgettable evening of music. Mohamed Hamaki will headline the MOTN Festival at the Corniche, while Rahma Riad and Abadi Al Johar will perform at Liwa Village, adding a touch of Arab musical heritage to the festivities.
