More than 290,000 students, spread across 523 public schools in the UAE, on Tuesday returned to school after the winter break.

The winter vacation started on December 11 for students, and December 18 for administrative and educational staff members.

Important Dates Announced

The Emirates School Education Foundation (EFSE) announced key dates pertaining to the upcoming semester, including the evaluation and announcement of first-semester results. This is scheduled for the second week of the semester, from January 8 to January 12.

According to the timetable set by the Ministry of Education for the second semester, mock exams and practical tests for Group B subjects will run from March 4 to March 8. Final exams are scheduled for March 13 to March 22, with the second semester break starting on March 25 and concluding on April 12 for students, and from April 1 to April 12 for staff members.

School administrators have also received a book delivery plan from the distribution authority, outlining the dates and times to expect the second-semester textbooks. The distribution will take place throughout the current week, as per the approved plan.

Educational Renaissance in the Works

EFSE’s Director General, Eng. Mohamed Al Qasim, emphasised the foundation’s ongoing efforts to enhance the UAE’s education system. He stressed that investment in education remains a top priority, thanks to the country’s visionary leadership and meticulous follow-up.

Recently, the foundation has launched several innovative initiatives to unify efforts, including more than 20 open meetings to understand and address the challenges in the educational field.

Al Qasim said: “The foundation has been working on developing all aspects of the education system. Alongside the achievements in educational infrastructure and technology, new policies have been implemented, emphasising direct communication and transparency. These play a crucial role in ensuring constructive involvement of educational personnel and parents in decision-making processes.”

Capacity Building Activities

The EFSE organised a specialised training week with the participation of over 23,000 teachers, managing staff, kindergarten staff, and specialists. The figure includes 1,500 principals, 18,000 school teachers, 1,800 kindergarten teachers, and 2,000 specialists in supporting roles.

Approximately 110 training workshops were conducted, which aimed to enhance their skills, provide insight into the most recent educational research, and train them on the latest practices in their respective fields.

Programmes tailored for managing staff provided specialised training in multiple innovative areas, while sessions for teachers focused on artificial intelligence skills and ways to apply them in the classroom.
