The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Omar Abdulmajid Hamid Al-Obaidi, the chargé d'affaires of Iraq's embassy in Abu Dhabi, and delivered a strongly worded protest note over terrorist attacks launched from Iraqi territory.
The ministry condemned and rejected "the continued terrorist assaults carried out by factions and armed groups loyal to the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite the announcement of a ceasefire".
These attacks targeted vital facilities in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, violating sovereignty, airspace, and international law.
The protest note, delivered by Ahmed Jumaa Al-Marashda, Director of Arab Affairs, stressed that such assaults threaten regional stability and undermine international efforts to enhance security.
It warned that these actions present UAE-Iraq relations with "extremely sensitive challenges" with negative repercussions on cooperation.
The UAE urged Iraq's government to immediately halt and prevent all hostile acts originating from its territory, in line with international obligations.
The note also highlighted UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), demanding an unconditional end to provocations and threats against neighbouring states, including the use of proxies.
The ministry emphasised Iraq's responsibility to play a constructive role in reinforcing regional security and stability, preserving its sovereignty, and acting as a responsible partner.
