Amid regional travel disruptions, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has once again reassured tourists of their safety and comfort in a statement issued on Saturday.

In a Visitors Awareness Update posted on its social media platforms, Abu Dhabi’s tourism and culture sector regulator confirmed that tourist sites and attractions are operating normally. Hotels have also been instructed to extend stays for guests who are unable to depart the emirate due to flight suspensions.

“Over the weekend, we shared a message with hotels to extend check-out dates for those of you with disrupted flights and cruise schedules,” DCT Abu Dhabi said, offering welcome relief for travellers staying in Abu Dhabi hotels.

The authority had earlier issued a circular to hotels, calling on them to extend the stay of guests unable to leave due to travel restrictions, adding that it would cover any additional costs incurred.

The statement comes as Abu Dhabi continues to see sustained growth in its hospitality and heritage sectors. The sectors are expected to have contributed Dh62 billion to the economy in 2025, representing a 13% year-on-year increase.

The emirate’s world-class museums, contemporary art scene, and rich heritage remain a major draw for travellers, and tourists having to extend their stays in Abu Dhabi will have the opportunity to explore the sites as authorities ensure that all services and attractions remain operational.

“We want to assure you that Abu Dhabi continues to operate as normal. Public services, transport networks, hotels and cultural attractions remain open and fully operational,” DCT Abu Dhabi said in its advisory.

The authority encouraged tourists to confirm their onward travel arrangements with hotel staff: “For any clarifications regarding eligibility of compensated stays and covered services, hotel staff will be able to confirm the relevant arrangements and provide guidance based on your booking details, and the instructions received in your case.”

DCT Abu Dhabi meanwhile also urged tourists to reach out to airlines and airport personnel directly when looking for updated travel information.

“Authorities are closely monitoring developments and maintaining a high level of preparedness to ensure your continued safety and wellbeing,” DCT Abu Dhabi reassured. “Our commitment to visitors and residents in Abu Dhabi is their safety and wellbeing.”
