In a tribute to the UAE's longstanding values of generosity and compassion, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) united communities nationwide to prepare 1,971 aid packages for Gaza - a symbolic number marking the year the Union was founded, 1971.
The humanitarian event was held on Thursday as part of the ERC's celebrations for the 54th Eid Al Etihad, which will officially be observed across the country on December 2.
Dr Hamdan Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ERC, said the initiative is grounded in the national vision that places human dignity at the centre of policies.
The UAE has rightfully earned the title "Homeland of Humanity", Al Mazrouei said, as it ranked among the world's largest aid donors.
The ERC seeks to strengthen this reputation through its initiatives within the UAE and beyond.
This Eid Al Etihad, the ERC's celebrations are aimed at representing the core values and the spirit of the Union on which the UAE was founded in 1971.
He emphasised that the humanitarian messages the ERC aimed to convey through its Eid Al Etihad celebrations represented a living embodiment of the spirit of the Union on which the UAE was founded in 1971.
Volunteers and the ERC's staff worked hand in hand as they packed relief items into care boxes for Gaza.
Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, the UAE humanitarian drive dedicated to supporting Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, is among the participants in the ERC event.
Speaking to Aletihad, Mohammed Al Shareef, spokesperson for the operation, said their attendance at the gathering underscored their ongoing partnership with the Red Crescent.
The ERC has been the operation's largest supporter, dedicating its capabilities and resources to strengthening humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip, where numerous initiatives have been implemented, Al Sharif said.
The Red Crescent was among the first to respond to the humanitarian call for Palestinians, and these efforts continue to this day, he added.
