H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, honoured the nation’s martyrs, reiterating that their sacrifices were pivotal in the UAE’s formation and progress.
Marking Commemoration Day, observed annually on November 30, H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi said, “On this significant day, we pay tribute to our first martyrs, who on November 30, 1971, wrote the opening chapter of our nation’s legacy of heroism. Their sacrifice was a conscious choice, earning them the honour of being the nation’s first martyrs.”
“Without the sacrifices of our martyrs, the UAE’s growth would not have flourished,” His Highness stated, highlighting the profound impact of their selflessness.
His Highness underscored the importance of observing Commemoration Day annually as a reminder of the values of sacrifice and patriotism that form the foundation of the UAE’s security and resilience.
His Highness described the martyrs as the pioneers of the UAE’s victories and achievements, reflecting on their unparalleled courage.
His Highness noted, “No words can truly honour those who fearlessly faced death to safeguard their homeland and its people.”
H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi also referenced the wisdom of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who affirmed that martyrs are the enduring soul and conscience of the nation.
His Highness further cited President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s words, recognising martyrdom as a path to internal and external peace, adding, “The martyrs deserve the highest praise and appreciation for defending truth and justice.”
His Highness concluded by emphasising the importance of teaching younger generations the meaning of martyrdom and the heroism of the martyrs, stating, "This ensures the continuity of the nation’s journey of sacrifice and giving. The UAE’s flourishing future is nurtured by the blood of those who did not fear death in defence of life."
