ABU DHABI (WAM)

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) will honour 90 winners of the second edition of the Emirates Labour Market Award on November 14.

The award is the first-of-its-kind in the UAE to honour distinguished private sector companies and workforce across the country, aiming to strengthen the UAE's position as an ideal destination to live, work and invest.

New categories, Dh37 million award

The second edition of the award introduces two new categories - Labour Accommodations and Special Recognition - expanding the award categories from three to five.

Due to the high turnout of the first edition of the award and the distinguished practices in the labour market, it was decided to increase the number of winners from 66 to 90, while the total value of the award was increased to Dh37 million compared to Dh9 million in the first edition

The Award aims to enhance the UAE labour market’s competitiveness, improve its productivity and efficiency, recognise outstanding practices in the work environment, and protect and encourage the workers’ rights while advancing well-being and quality of life for the workforce across private sector establishments, the Ministry said.

MoHRE revealed that more than 7,700 applications have been received for the second edition of the Emirates Labour Market Award, marking a 120 percent surge from the 3,500 applications received in the first edition.

90 winners will be recognised across five categories of the award: Establishments, Distinguished Workforce, Labour Accommodation, Business Services Partners, and Special Recognition.

The increase in participation serves to boost the competitiveness of the UAE labour market and business environment, as well as workers’ wellbeing and quality of life.

Winning companies receive a package of benefits, including classification in the first category of MoHRE’s rankings, discounts on services from the Ministry, priority in processing transactions, addressing technical challenges, and premium call centre service.
