DUBAI (WAM)

The collection of relief aid as part of the ‘UAE Stands with Lebanon’ campaign will begin tomorrow at the Expo City Dubai Exhibition Centre, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and with the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and under the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs and Chair of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.

Dubai Cares will oversee and organise the collection of relief aid, supported by volunteers from diverse nationalities and community groups, in collaboration with donors, institutions, and business leaders from the Emirate of Dubai. This effort aligns with the campaign’s mission to promote humanitarian solidarity and brotherly support for the Lebanese people during these challenging times, addressing urgent humanitarian needs and responding to the current situation.

The relief aid collection at Expo City Dubai is part of a public campaign that began on Tuesday, October 8, and will run until Monday, October 21.

To date, the UAE has contributed $100 million in urgent assistance, including the dispatch of nine relief planes carrying 375 tonnes of supplies. These deliveries have included 205 tonnes of medical supplies, food, and shelter equipment, 93 tonnes of additional food items, and 37 tonnes of essential supplies specifically for children and women. Additionally, $30 million in relief aid has been allocated to support Lebanese refugees in Syria.
