ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Dubai Tourist Police, in cooperation with strategic partners, organised five engaging events to mark World Tourism Day for tourists and visitors.

These events took place in Dubai Hills, Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, Kite Beach, the tourist camps in Al Aweer, and various hotels, beaches, and camps across Dubai, all under the ‘Tourist Police Stars’ initiative.

Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, Brigadier Harb Al Shamsi, said that Dubai Police's annual celebration of World Tourism Day underscores their commitment to enhancing tourism security and raising awareness about the services available for tourists and visitors to the emirate.

He highlighted that Dubai is one of the world's top tourist destinations and emphasised its dedication to providing exceptional services in cooperation with government and private sector partners.

“This approach ensures the sustainability of security in the tourism sector and supports Dubai Police's strategic goals of creating a safe and resilient city while enhancing community happiness,” Al Shamsi added.

He also commended the contributions of internal and external partners for their effective collaboration within a comprehensive framework, which led to the successful execution of events and the creation of positive experiences for tourists.

He acknowledged partners such as Dubai Municipality, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Airports, the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, Dubai Hills Mall, Dubai Festival City Mall, Dubai Holding, Al Shamal Company, and various general departments and police stations.

Various Events and Shows
Acting Director of the Tourist Police Department, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Abdul Rahman, explained that the events featured a parade in the camps with 400 safari vehicles, 2,000 tourists, eight luxury patrols, and the Dubai Police Air Wing, along with Positive Spirit Council, aimed at raising awareness about Dubai Police's services for tourists.

During the Dubai Hills and Kite Beach activities, visitors enjoyed performances from the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Al Mazyoud Al Harbiya Band.

There were also demonstrations by tourist security patrols, K9 shows, and displays featuring bicycles and beach bikes.

Moreover, Gifts were also distributed to welcome visitors at Airport Terminal 3, along with giveaways for newcomers to the emirate.

The event promoted Dubai Police services in seven languages: Arabic, English, Hindi, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, and German.

Tourist Police Stars
Abdul Rahman highlighted a new initiative named ‘Tourist Police Stars,’ aimed at honouring three categories: the first recognises hotels by awarding the best hotel and the best employee; the second focuses on beaches, honoring the best lifeguard and the best security guard; and the third celebrates the best safari driver and the best tourist camp.

He also mentioned that tourists could take advantage of Dubai Police's smart services through the Dubai Police app, the Dubai Police website, or by calling the non-emergency hotline at 901 and the emergency number at 999.

“All community members can contact the tourist police for assistance or send an email to touristpolice@dubaipolice.gov.ae,” Lt. Col. Abdul Rahman continued.

At the end of the event, Brig. Al Shamsi, along with Lt. Col. Abdul Rahman, honoured the strategic partners, collaborators, and winners of the ‘Tourist Police Stars’ initiative.
