DINA JOUNY (ABU DHABI)

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) announced the issuance of 81 educational permits for vocational education activities in Dubai over the past three years, covering various specialisations across different economic sectors in the emirate.

This initiative follows Executive Council Resolution No. (30) of 2021, which regulates vocational education in Dubai. The professional certificates endorsed by KHDA are recognised for employment, education, and economic activities.

Vocational education institutions in Dubai must comply with 20 conditions to operate, including adhering to applicable legislation, KHDA instructions, and permit conditions. Institutions must provide necessary tools and equipment, including those for students of determination, continuously qualify technical staff, and follow approved conditions for technical staff appointments and student enrolment.

Institutions must manage premises and annexes according to approved requirements, provide data and information to KHDA during inspections in a timely manner, maintain records for students and technical staff, avoid misleading or non-compliant advertising, or the professional qualifications it offers, and submit periodic reports to KHDA. They must also uphold state traditions, avoid offending religions or engaging in politics, and not accept donations without KHDA approval.

Permits are valid for one year and can be renewed if the application is submitted at least 30 days before expiration. Renewal is subject to conditions and procedures specified by the Director General. At the permit holder’s request KHDA can extend permits for up to three years if regulations, standards, and fees are met.
