ADHA: July 31 deadline for citizens' housing grant requests in Abu Dhabi

ADHA: July 31 deadline for citizens' housing grant requests in Abu Dhabi

HALA AL KHAYAT (ABU DHABI)

The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA) has reiterated that July 31 marks the deadline for Emiratis to submit requests related to housing grants. Citizens seeking conveyance of housing grants must adhere to the stipulated guidelines and ensure their applications are received by the specified date.

In May, the ADHA formed a dedicated committee to process citizens' requests regarding housing grants. This committee is focusing on cases that occurred before October 2, 2018, operating under the legislation in force during that period. Whether through sales or exchanges with other citizens, the committee aims to address these pre-existing cases while upholding public interest.

To submit a request for the conveyance of housing grants through sale and purchase, citizens must meet specific criteria. Applicants must own residential land or possess a suitable alternative housing option within the emirate.

They must commit not to sell this property and register it in the Real Estate Register as a housing grant. Citizens cannot simultaneously claim another residential land grant, housing grant, or house purchase loan.

A written consent from the wife is mandatory for all transactions. For cases involving exchanges with other citizens, the updated housing programmes and housing benefits policies in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi apply. Additionally, written consent from the wife is required in such instances. The formation of the ADHA committee aligns with the Abu Dhabi government's commitment to review matters that serve the community's public interest.

By expediting the decision-making process, the ADHA aims to conclusively resolve housing grant cases. The updated provisions, housing policies, and housing benefits are applicable to new cases occurring after October 2018. ADHA emphasised that the committee's decisions will be final, and no requests will be accepted beyond the specified deadline.

Citizens are urged to act promptly to secure their housing grant conveyance.
