During the International Exhibition for National Security and Resilience (ISNR Abu Dhabi 2024), held under the patronage of H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Rabdan Security and Defence Institute was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Led by the Rabdan Academy, a global leader in security, defence, and crisis management, this strategic initiative aims to address evolving threats and challenges in the realm of defence and security.
In his address, James Morse, President of the Rabdan Academy, noted the significance of this milestone inauguration, highlighting the institute’s role as a beacon for strategic planning, innovation, and collaboration in a world marked by rapid changes and uncertainties.
“As we navigate complex geopolitical landscapes, technological advancements, and shifts and risks associated with multipolarity, the role of a dedicated defence and security think tank becomes paramount. Timely understanding of the challenges and prospects posed by the rapidly changing world remains of key importance. The Rabdan Security and Defence Institute aims to respond to these challenges, becoming a nexus where expertise, creativity, and foresight converge to address the most pressing challenges facing our nation, the region, and the global community,” he said.
The Rabdan Security and Defence Institute is envisioned as a platform for rigorous analysis, informed debate, and forward-thinking solutions.
“Inspired by the UAE’s commitment to innovation and progress and unique belief in peace, diversity, and tolerance, the Rabdan Security and Defence Institute will be a centre for generating timely policy solutions for peace and stability in the region. We find ourselves at a historic juncture, witnessing the birth of the very first think tank here focused specifically on defence and security,” Morse said.
He noted that the institute aims to blend technological progress with Rabdan Academy’s commitment to academic excellence and service, mirroring the UAE’s ability to be at the forefront of innovation and progress while remaining conscious of the rich traditions and values from the past. Morse further affirmed the institute’s dedication to producing research and analysis of the “highest caliber”, guided by principles of objectivity and impartiality.
“At the heart of our mission is a commitment to excellence, integrity, and relevance. We will strive to produce research and analysis of the highest caliber, grounded in empirical evidence, and guided by the principles of objectivity and impartiality. Our goal is not only to comprehend the present, but also to anticipate the future, offering insights that empower decision-makers to navigate complexities with confidence and with clarity”.
The institute also seeks to serve as a catalyst for collaboration, creating synergies with partner institutions to produce insights of the highest caliber, according to Morse.
