The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) has elected Maryam Majid bin Theneya, Second Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), as Chair of PAM Women Parliamentary Forum, during the elections, which took place today during PAM's 18th Plenary Session, held in Braga, Portugal.
Maryam Majid bin Theneya affirmed that protecting women's rights is integral to the protection of human rights, noting that the forum will seek to promote gender equality and women's health, economic empowerment and education, as well as ensure their equal representation at PAM.
Maryam Majid bin Theneya is also the Chairwoman of the FNC Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean.
