Muslims around the world celebrate Eid Al Fitr with great fervour after the end of the holy month of Ramadan, expressing their joy in celebrating the close of the holy month customary during the holiday. 


Preparations for Eid Al Fitr celebrations are set to begin in few days, with local Emirati sweets topping most families’ agenda.


The UAE enjoys various customs and traditions surrounding Eid Al Fitr, and Emirati families prepare various sweets, including Luqaimat, Balaleet, Khabeesa, Maamoul, and Ka’ak. Emiratis also keep a special table full of chocolates, coffee, and tea to present them to guests. 


The Emirate of Abu Dhabi organises distinguished ceremonies and celebrations during all holidays, and Eid Al Fitr features prominently among them complete with events and shows held in various locations around the capital.


Before Eid Al Fitr, Abu Dhabi Municipality decorates the streets with lights in formations depicting Eid Al Fitr greetings to welcome the occasion. Both the citizens and the residents of Abu Dhabi enjoy a special Eid holiday full of options for destinations and activities. 


Among the most special elements of celebrating the holiday in Abu Dhabi is the fireworks displays that light up the skies of the Emirate. This year, the capital will hold fireworks displays in five locations: Yas Bay, Abu Dhabi Corniche, Al Hudayriat Island, and Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, to celebrate Eid Al Fitr. 


Celebrations also include visiting malls, which are not only shopping centres but places where families gather to have a good time. Abu Dhabi’s malls are distinguished as an integrated entertainment destination for all family members, with an abundance of entertainment facilities and restaurant options.


Abu Dhabi malls also oversee seasonal activities and events, including entertainment and musical shows and draws for valuable prizes during the Eid Al Fitr holiday.


Visiting restaurants for a special meal is also a common tradition during the holiday. Many restaurants make special meals for Eid Al Fitr, in addition to offering discounts and creating a joyful atmosphere full of decorations and balloons, which are often given to children. 


Eid Al Fitr celebrations are dedicated to having fun and spending quality time with friends and family for most in the Emirate, and Abu Dhabi offers that and more.
