UAE Embassy in Seoul hosts Tolerance Iftar to celebrate holy month of Ramadan

SEOUL (WAM)

The UAE's Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi, hosted an Iftar under the theme ‘Tolerance’ to celebrate and reinforce values of dialogue, understanding, and coexistence.

The iftar was held at the ambassador's residence in the capital of South Korea, Seoul.

The aim of the event was to consolidate principles of peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding, and tolerance, was attended by prominent Korean officials.

Those included Kim Chang-Mo, Secretary General of the Korea-Arab Society (KAS), and guests from various religions, as well as officials from academia and the media, in addition to a group of prominent figures and influencers.

The annual iftar conveys the message of tolerance, and advocates intercultural and interreligious dialogue to strengthen principles of coexistence, and peace.

During his welcoming speech, Al Nuaimi said, “The UAE celebrates the holy month of Ramadan by breaking the barriers of race, colour, and ethnicity. Here, among the diverse cultures, languages, and traditions, we embrace the essence of tolerance that defines our nation.”

"The UAE is an example of coexistence and progress, as the spirit of moderation and respect for others are core principles in Emirati society. Our country provides a decent life for everyone where peace prevails,” he added.

Attendees were shown a short video titled ‘Tolerance’ at the beginning of the event, which emphasised its importance as a core value and unwavering principle within UAE society.

Those who were present got the opportunity to experience Emirati culture and traditions, and learn about the development and prosperity of the UAE, a country that is the only nation in the Middle East that has a ‘Special Strategic Partnership' with the Republic of Korea.

The attendees also expressed their hope to reinforce building bridges of understanding and dialogue.
