With a mission to redefine IT education, Cyber Net, under the leadership of Mohammed Khaled Alshamsi, aspires to be the premier online destination for IT students and the cybersecurity community in the UAE. Driven by a commitment to innovation and ingenuity, Cyber Net aims to revolutionise the landscape of IT education by delivering professional online training focused on cybersecurity and networking.
The overarching vision is to establish Cyber Net as the primary source for cybersecurity training in Arabic, empowering individuals within the IT community to excel and contribute significantly to the broader field. In an exclusive interview with Aletihad, Alshamsi revealed that “The idea of Cyber Net started with my first job, as I noticed the lack of security culture among employees and teens. I realised that many need more awareness to handle hacking attempts, especially given the absence of cybersecurity courses in Arabic. It is rare, old school, and lacks creativity. So, I made it my rule to start a business, a platform that focuses on showing students the right path to study the major, and providing online and on-site Arabic courses for everyone interested.”
Shedding light on the distinctive features of the Cyber Net Training Platform, Alshamsi emphasised: “Our platform boasts an automation system that seamlessly provides students with certification upon completing course requirements. It is integrated with Apple Pay and Google Pay to ensure convenient seat bookings. Furthermore, Cyber Net offers complimentary services, including a rapid URL scanner equipped to assess any suspicious link with over 70 antivirus programmes, generating a detailed report in seconds. Notably, our data breach checker uses your email to identify leaks of sensitive information.”
In crafting the Cyber Net Training Platform, Alshamsi strategically examined the market for gaps and created courses that were not widely offered in Arabic, such as NFT World, Operational Security, Ethical Hacking, Introduction to CTF, and Professional Use of Artificial Intelligence. “We choose courses by studying market needs, ensuring each is unique, providing straightforward information without wasting time,” Alshamsi said.
“I create courses from an IT student’s perspective, explaining straight to the point with activities for lasting retention,” he added.
Cyber Net also consistently updates courses for relevance. “Courses always have the newest version when needed; as a platform providing IT courses, we take responsibility for monthly updates, ensuring quality. Purchased courses keep records and materials with students for a lifetime, including updates,” Alshamsi said.
Cyber Net assumes a pivotal role in shaping the future of Emirati cybersecurity by actively cultivating an information security culture within the community.
Employing a tailored approach, the platform extends its influence to various demographics, offering consultant services for high school students, awareness courses for employees, and core and advanced courses for IT majors.
This comprehensive strategy is meticulously designed to contribute effectively to the development and enhancement of cybersecurity skills across different segments of the UAE’s population.
Alshamsi also advised the people of the UAE, particularly the youth, to stay informed in the digital age. “Always consider your phone a ‘public place’ and keep any sensitive information that can be used against you in it. Always keep yourself updated with the latest tech, even if you are not interested. This way, you will value the tech and will discover how to use it safely and securely.”
