Qatar’s Health Minister Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari has won the Best Minister award at the World Governments Summit 2024 (WGS) for her efficient handling of the healthcare system.
Dr. Al Kuwari was appointed Minister of Public Health in January 2016, and previously worked as the Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation.
Al Kuwari also worked with the World Health Organisation.
According to the WGS: “The Best Minister Award commends the extraordinary work of government ministers at demonstrating excellence in the public sector and their design and implementation of successful, scalable, and sustainable initiatives for socio-economic advancement of their citizens.”
“It also celebrates efforts to inspire and lead other government leaders and service providers towards promoting innovation and foresight in shaping public discourse on global issues of today and tomorrow.”
All long-listed ministers are screened to identify possible integrity issues. They are then assessed for their initiatives and contributions as defined in the WGS nomination criteria.
The dossiers are then presented to an independent judging panel for the final selection.
