The sixth edition of the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX) held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) witnessed the participation of 72 national companies, according to Yaser Al Obeidli, spokesperson for the UMEX and SimTEX exhibitions.

In an interview with Aletihad on Thursday, which marked the last day of the exhibitions, Al Obeidli said that national companies accounted for 34% of the total number of exhibiting companies at UMEX/SimTEX 2024.

“This edition was exceptional by all accounts,” he added, noting that the total number of exhibiting companies has increased by 19% compared with the previous one.

Aletihad also spoke to Ahmad Al Mazrouei, Chairman of AM Industries, a UAE company founded in 2013 that is participating in UMEX/SimTEX for the fifth time in a row. It showcased various types of AI and simulation technologies used for military training scenarios.

“The wide range of local and international companies participating in the exhibitions is quite impressive. Our participation was very productive; we have signed multiple agreements to further our projects in the UAE,” he said.

UMEX/SimTEX 2024 also marked the launch of five new initiatives, including the UMEX commercial platform with the participation of over 37 local and international companies specialised in the civil and commercial use of unmanned systems, according to the UMEX/SimTEX spokesperson.

He added that the UMEX Next Gen Innovation Award contributed to bringing together startups with industry leaders and investors, as over 20 start-ups from seven countries participated showcasing their innovative and developed solutions, some of which were revealed for the first time.
