The Emriates Schools Establishment (Talim) has announced that a comprehensive framework for reviewing grades has been established to clarifying procedures for appealing academic marks. The framework includes guidelines, procedures, and legislation to further enhance transparency, integrity, and fairness within the academic assessment system.

The system consists of five axes: the application for grade review, tasks and duties, a workflow chart, criteria for submitting grade review requests, and the timeline for receiving grade reviews.

According to the Establishment, eight types of requests are exempt from consideration within the recently adopted review standards. This decision covers the following types of requests: requests to review grades on the decision of the grade in one or more subjects from groups “A” and “B,” which are reviewed directly by the school administration; requests for promotion after failure; requests for additional opportunities for retests; requests to adjust the percentage for the purposes of joining higher education institutions; exceptions from attending 65% of school days for students in the first to third grades; requests related to the classification of students of determination after being approved at the end of the academic year; requests submitted in other systems and curricula; and cases related to behaviour issues or cheating.

Through the implementation of this new system, the Establishment aims to establish a clear mechanism for reviewing exam grades, ensuring credibility, and solidifying clear procedures that align with federal legislation.

The Establishment also outlined criteria for submitting grade review requests. These requests cover final assessment grades at the end of the semester as well as the retake, and can include a maximum of three group “A” subjects. The criteria for submission include four categories of students: students of determination undergoing an “adaptation and alignment” educational plan or individual educational plan, including those with chronic diseases; sick students and their companions receiving treatment both outside the country or within the country; students with medical excuses; and students who have dealt with the death of a first-degree relative.

The link for submitting appeals for students in the fourth through twelvth grades for the first semester exams is currently active after the announcement of exam results, which began last Tuesday and continues through this Friday.
