Content creation or entrepreneurship is focused on the small stuff and I think life is not determined by getting a few big things right but by a hundred thousand small decisions; so I have a philosophy of maximizing or optimizing the small things today,” said British-Nigerian entrepreneur-speaker Steven Bartlett in a free-wheeling talk with Alia Al Hammadi, CEO of New Media Academy, the organizer of the 1 Billion Followers Summit 2024 in Dubai.
The author and host of the UK’s No.1 podcast “The Diary of a CEO” which tells the remarkable stories of the world’s most influential people, was at the second edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit that kicked off on January 10 at the Museum of the Future and Emirates Towers in the city.
The Fireside Chat was titled “Inside the Mind of Steven Bartlett” and was part of the Get Ahead series.
“People’s advice in talks like this are going to give you the answers you need in your business but the answers are changing faster than ever. So, experimentation should be your strategy,” shared Bartlett as his tips for growth added that he travelled 50 weeks a year, attending conferences and taking in audience opinions.
Regarding new ideas as well as the creative block, Bartlett compared creativity to clouds in the sky that are connected by people. “I need more clouds in the sky,” he added.
In reply to the moderator’s query, the young entrepreneur said he had wasted no years and that he would follow the same path he took. The college dropout, who co-founded Flight Story, a marketing and communications company that works with leading brands, as well as thirdweb, a software platform backed by Shopify and Coinbase that makes it easy to build web3 applications, opened up about his Nigerian immigrant mother who could not attend school beyond the primary level and had been unhappy about his decision to quit studies. He said he was happy and grateful for the choices he made in life and called him “born lucky.”
Bartlett, whose audience includes young aspiring entrepreneurs, creators, business leaders and high net-worth individuals, is active on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter) and Tiktok.
