The technical committee for the upcoming UAE SWAT Challenge 2024 has officially announced the participation of 25 highly specialised referees hailing from diverse police units. The much-anticipated challenge is set to unfold at the state-of-the-art Al Ruwayyah training facility in Dubai, with a series of thrilling events scheduled from February 3 to 7.
The head of the committee, Major Jamal Al Zaabi, shared the excitement surrounding the event, emphasising the wealth of experience the referees bring to the table in the realms of rapid intervention and special police operations. He explained that they have undergone rigorous training courses tailored for this championship, having officiated in four international and seven local championships with the same challenge system.
Highlighting the diverse international representation, Al Zaabi pointed out that the referees come from various esteemed police agencies in the UAE, the US, and South Africa. Each referee boasts specialised expertise in the five challenge areas: Tactical Challenge, Assault Challenge, Officer Rescue, High Tower Challenge, and Obstacle Crossing.
In line with the visionary directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, the technical committee is diligently working to ensure the Al Ruwayyah field's readiness for the challenge. Additionally, a specialised workshop has been organised to familiarise the referees with the new changes in the challenge, along with the associated regulations, rules, and laws.
Al Zaabi concluded on a positive note, saying that the referees have consistently showcased their merit and unwavering professionalism, and promise an event filled with excitement, precision, and outstanding performances.
